John (Ignacio) Tejeda, 87, passed away on May 8, 2024 surrounded by his family. His family is having a private memorial service.
John was born on June 18, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois to Luis and Trinidad Tejeda. When John was a baby, he, his parents and his sister moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He has worked as a welder and a beef lugger. He retired at the age of 70 1/2 years old as a forklift operator at Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill, Cottage Grove Oregon. If you knew him, you knew he always included that 1/2 year when asked at what age he retired. When John was 26 he met and married Margaret Olds. They were married on October 15,1962. They had a long and happy marriage lasting 61 years. During this marriage, they were blessed with 4 children, John Tejeda Jr (Sheri Tejeda), Susan Tejeda Dahl (Mark Dahl), Carolyn Tejeda Hebert (Lyness Hebert) and Linda Tejeda Craig (David Craig).
John had a strong voice and a great sense of humor. He loved all things music but had a passion for the Blues. He spent much of his free time playing the guitar and listening to BB King. He loved watching all sports, whether it was professional teams or his children and grandchildren playing on school teams. He enjoyed watching movies and talking to anyone who would listen. He had words of wisdom about every subject and was always ready to debate. He was an excellent artist and gave a few tattoos in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was deeply loved and cared for. John will be greatly missed.
