Kara Michelle Taylor

Kara Michelle Taylor of Eugene, Oregon, passed away September 21, 2025. She was 49 years old. Kara was one of God’s special gifts to the world.

Spending time with Kara was a reminder to smile, live life to the best of your ability, make friends, and to not forget what is really important in life.

Kara was born in Eugene and went to school there, graduating from South Eugene High School.

Kara attended the after-school respite program at The Arc of Lane County for many years. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends, participating in the activities and going on the community outings.

After graduation from school, she worked at Pearl Buck Center in Production. She immediately wanted to be friends with everyone – all 135 co-workers. She quickly found herself in hot water because she liked to cruise from work table to work table and talk to people instead of doing her job.

Kara loved her little brother, Jonathan. As they grew, they had a typical brother-sister relationship. Jonathan loved his “special” big sister. He could tease her and argue with her, but no one else better say anything bad about his sister.

Kara was always included in family outings. When she was young, she loved riding horses at our family friends’ home. She floated down the Willamette River many times in our family rubber raft. Whether we were building bonfires on the beach, decorating the Christmas tree or visiting Disneyland, she wanted to be a part of and participate in the activity. And she did!

Kara was well known in the community. Whether she was out at the mall, in downtown Eugene, or enjoying the trail along the river, you could always count on someone calling out “Hi, Kara”.

With the love and support from her family, friends, teachers, aides and volunteers, the cerebral palsy and epileptic seizures she was born with, never stopped her from enjoying life to the fullest.

And she did.
