Karen “Kay” Gene DeHart born April 2, 1934, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026 at the age of 91.

Born in Portland, Oregon to Ted and Marjorie Jorgensen, Kay was married to Dennis DeHart on January 10, 1954. Dennis preceded her in death in 2009. Kay and Dennis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004, and shared a lifetime of outdoor adventures, including hunting and fishing together.

Kay is survived by their six children: Deborah (Steve) Proctor, Sabrina “Beany” (Bill) Croxen, Jeff (Janet) DeHart, Wanda Carter, Rod (Micki) DeHart and Belinda (Web) Hayward. She is also survived by her brother Pete Jorgensen of Ashland, Oregon, as well as seventeen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren (more on the way) and seven great-great-grandchildren.

After retiring from the State of Alaska, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi. Kay and Dennis enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. They spent several years managing State RV parks and traveling throughout the United States, making many friends along the way.

Later in life, Kay found companionship with Marden Jones. After each had lost their spouses, they built a loving partnership and enjoyed spending their years together in Arizona, where Kay especially loved the sunshine and warm weather.

Kay was deeply loved by her family and Mard. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in memory of Kay.
