Keith Edward Washington, 61, passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with neuroendocrine carcinoma, a rare and often under-recognized cancer. He was surrounded by his family’s immense love in his final moments.

Early in his illness, Keith reflected on his life with the same humility and gratitude that defined him. He said, “While I’d love to have more time with the people I love, I’ve been blessed to live an incredible life – full of amazing places and even more amazing people.” This was a sentiment that captured his heart perfectly.

Keith was born on July 2, 1964, in Portland, Oregon, to Edward and Jean (Patterson) Washington. He grew up in Portland, graduating from Benson High School in 1982 before attending the University of Oregon. A gifted athlete, he was a member of the 1984 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship team, which was later inducted into the University of Oregon Hall of Fame in 2010 - an honor he cherished throughout his life.

Keith’s love of aviation began early. By the age of sixteen he was already flying, and throughout college he continued flying and teaching flying lessons in Eugene. After flying cargo early in his career, his first big break came when he went to work for Horizon Airlines. From there, his passion truly became his profession: he went on to fly commercially for United Airlines for more than 15 years before transitioning into corporate aviation. He spent over a decade flying for Nike, including serving as Senior Director of Aviation. He also founded KEW Aviation Services, providing contract pilot work and aviation consulting. In 2024, he joined the Google Flight Department - a role he loved deeply and spoke of with genuine joy and pride.

For nearly 18 years, Keith made his home in Springfield, Oregon, where he built a life centered on family, laughter, and the simple, beautiful moments he treasured. He and Tiffany were married on July 2, 2008, a date that became twice as meaningful as they celebrated both his birthday and their anniversary each year.

Keith is survived by his wife, Tiffany; his daughters Alexandra Maitlen (partner Tim Keller) and Madeline Davis (husband Quan Davis); and his adored grandchildren, Mason James and Aliyah Rose, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his father, Edward Washington; his brother, Kevin Washington; his father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Sharon Miller; brother- and sister-in-law, Andrew and Alicia Miller (and nieces Hailey and Sophia); and sister-in-law, Lydia Miller (and nephews Paxton, Elijah, and Aidan). He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Washington, and brother-in-law Craig Miller. He is also survived by countless aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly and all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Keith loved travel - especially with family – and held a particular fondness for Hawaii, a place that immediately brought him peace and joy. He loved evenings around the backyard fire pit, playing cards on game nights, rolling dice in endless games of Farkle and Yahtzee on the deck, and admiring a perfect sunset. A lifelong Oregon Ducks fan, he rarely missed a home football game and traveled to many bowl games over the years.

Nothing, however, brought Keith more joy than being “Papi.” He enthusiastically supported Mason at his games, helped him master the Rubik’s cube and learn how to garden, took both grandchildren on field trips to the Science Center, happily attended school and daycare events, and delighted in cheering on Aliyah as she learned to walk and grow into his special girl. He encouraged them every day to dream boldly, believe in themselves, and know – without a doubt – the depth of his love for them.

Keith lived with gratitude, curiosity, and kindness. He loved fiercely, served others quietly, and carried a sense of wonder throughout his life. Those who knew him felt seen, welcome, and uplifted by his presence. His absence is immeasurable, but so is the love, joy, and inspiration he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Valley River Inn – Columbia Ballroom 1000 Valley River Way, Eugene, Oregon. We invite all who loved Keith to join us as we honor a man who spent his life soaring – both in the sky and in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Relay for Life team created in Keith’s name – Papi's Impact Alliance – so that his legacy of courage and hope may continue to inspire others.
