Lela “Denise” Hilde (Neecee) was born on December 7, 1950, to Franklin Lamar and Lela Faye Nelson in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2026, in Eugene, Oregon.

Denise was a beautiful, spirited woman—born on Pearl Harbor Day—and lovingly called the “blonde bombshell” by her father. She was truly a force to be reckoned with. She lived life with adventure and joy, with a deep love for the ocean, water sports, and golf. She embraced life fully and brought that same energy and enthusiasm to those around her.

She was highly educated, an exceptional nurse, and deeply compassionate. She had a servant’s heart and cared for others with both skill and tenderness. She loved to garden, appreciated art, and had a natural ability to bring humor and light into any room. She was passionate, independent, strong-willed, and full of life.

Denise loved the Lord Jesus and desired that others would come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. While it is deeply painful to lose her, we take great comfort in knowing this is not the final goodbye. Because of her faith, we know she is now whole, restored, and in the presence of her Lord. This is not forever—it is only until we see her again in our heavenly home.

She is survived by her loving partner, Bruce Mullican; her sister, Pam Maurice (husband Mike); her brother, Kevin Nelson; her daughter, Rhiannon Demings (husband Mike); and her grandson, Logan.

A private graveside service will be held at West Lawn on Friday, April 24, 2026.
