Luke John Poulin Obituary

Graphic artist and designer, Luke John Poulin, died of accidental drowning on August 31, 2025, while inner tubing on the Willamette River in Springfield, OR. He was accompanied by his fiancé, Nani Roane, and her son Chris Dimmitt who both made efforts to save him when his life vest became entangled in the branches of an underwater snag. The trip was hosted by Oregon River Runners of Springfield which provided the life jackets, tubes, and guide.

Poulin was 67 years old. He is survived by his son Jacob Pedersen, of Tarboro, NC, sister Judith Vanlandschoot of Davenport, IA, fiancé Nani Roane of Cottage Grove, and stepdaughter, Amy Fair, of King City, CA.

Luke was known as a loving and generous person with tremendous artistic talent. In his life, he produced sculptures, paintings, decorated cakes, built many carpentry projects, and produced thousands of commercial signs. He was employed by ES&A Sign and Drawing, of Eugene, OR, at the time of his death. He was born in Ohio, lived in Panama, Utah, Iowa, Texas, Hawaii, and Oregon. He was also a certified rescue diver in his own right. His wife, Sharon “Sherry” Poulin, died on August 31, 2002, in Houston, TX.
