It is with heavy hearts we must announce that Margaret Joan Faber (Bowman) passed away March 3, 2026, after a brave fight against sudden illness.

Called Joan by all who loved her, she was born in Norwood, CO on February 5th, 1939, the youngest of five children. She had a lifelong love for nature, especially birds and plant life, and relayed many memories of working at Yellowstone National Park as a hostess, and of visiting the Butchart Gardens during her honeymoon. She was a grade-school teacher for several years, during which she befriended the woman who would introduce her to her future husband Paul. Later on, she spent many years employed as a case worker for Adult and Family Services of Oregon, aiding disadvantaged families with obtaining food and other benefits. These professions were an extension of her curiosity about the world and her desire to help others, which she always strove to encourage in her own family, and carried out continuously in her free time.

She enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, bird watching, gardening, and puzzles of all kinds, and was an avid reader. She was an ardent fan of various sports, especially gymnastics and figure skating, as well as football and even drone racing. She loved shopping - a little too much, by her own admission - and had a sweet tooth and always had a snack of some kind stashed away. She was devoted to her children and her family and only ever wished that they have the very best of everything, always.

She was not a flashy person, and was rather introverted and modest. But whenever she would converse with others, she was always interested in them and their lives and interests. Many was the time she would spontaneously speak with joy at seeing some bird or flower, or otherwise commenting on moments of beauty she saw in the world. If we would see her live on, we can carry on her legacy by allowing ourselves to do these things, also.

Joan is preceded in death by her father Samuel A. Bowman Jr; her mother Fanny Bell Bowman (Morris); her sisters Jessie, Maurine "Mike", Helen "Ho", and Karolyn "Kay"; her husband Paul Faber; and her stillborn angel, Darin. She is survived by her two children and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She leaves behind a bigger gap in the world than she would have ever suspected. May she now only know peace and happiness in the company of souls who are as kind as she.
