Martha Maxine Brawn, 85, passed away May 19, 2025 at her home in Springfield, Oregon, lovingly surrounded by her children. She was a gentle soul, who walked this earth in beauty, love and grace. She was a brave warrior as she fought the good fight against Sarcoma - a relentless and painful cancer. Martha was a small, but strong woman. She was humble, yet proud of the strength she had built. Known and loved in her neighborhood, she walked miles nearly every day before cancer slowed her pace. She knew the neighbors' names, and all of their dogs, as well.
Martha's smile was said to light up a room. She loved music and dancing, gardening and kind people. Once a single mom raising four children on her own, life was not easy, but she gave it her all. And, her family became closer and stronger through the struggles. Long ago, she taught herself to play guitar and sang her children to sleep each night when they were young (she chose a special song for each one). Of the various work she did throughout her life, caring for her mother at the end of life, and caring for her grandchildren in the early years of their lives fulfilled her.
She loved life, her family, the forest, and flowers. She is survived by her children, Melanie Harvey (Paul Bunch), Tony Brawn (Ellen Brawn), and Tina Baker (Herman Thomas). Her daughter, Julie Bryce preceded her in death. She loved her grandchildren, Jason Bryce (preceded her in death), Theya Joslin, Ryan Brawn, Grant Brawn, Jessica Brawn, Natasha Maclean, Skye Harvey, Derek Maclean, Samantha Bryce, Joey Steward, and Danny Stewart. She also loved her numerous great-grandchildren, and provided a loving, accepting foundation for her entire family. She leaves a legacy of beauty, boundless love, and light.
