Norma Jean Poasa
March 13, 1952- January 10, 2026
Norma Jean Poasa was born on March 13, 1952, in Richwood, West Virginia, and passed away on January 10, 2026, in Eugene, Oregon, comforted by her husband and surrounded by the presence of family.
Norma lived a life centered on family, friends, and service. She loved to travel and especially cherished time spent exploring new places with family and friends. At home, she found joy in gardening, music, cooking, and hosting gatherings filled with good food and conversation. She had a fondness for collecting turtles, a small reflection of her gentle spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of the Oregon Ducks and loved attending the Women’s Football Clinic with her friends. She had an innate ability to make people feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
After graduating from Willamette High School, she became a devoted nurse. She began her career at Douglas Community Hospital in Roseburg before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she served for 25 years. She worked as an inpatient psychiatric nurse, in homeless outreach in Eugene, and later in Quality Management and Infection Control. As a Nurse Manager in the new VA clinic in Eugene, she earned deep respect for her leadership and professionalism. Her career reflected both clinical excellence and a strong commitment to service.
Beyond her work in healthcare, Norma served as treasurer and secretary of the Oregon Track Club Master for years, generously giving her time and energy to an organization she loved. She volunteered on the hospitality committee and hosted many Sundays at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Norma Jean is survived by her loving husband, Foloi Poasa; her son, Norm Price and daughter in-law Sheri Price; her sister Linda Crook, her stepchildren, Obie Poasa, Levi Poasa, and Lia Faaleava; her grandchildren, Peyton Price, Meleah Price, Adahra Poasa, and Luka Faaleava; and her great-grandson, Stetson Pair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and Charles Price, and her brothers, Charles Jr. and Delmas Price.
Norma’s life was guided by a deep devotion to her family and a commitment to serving others. Her generosity, strength, and kindness defined her life’s work. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on Sat. 1/24/26 @ 10:30am. Donations in Lieu of flowers can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church with the note “Norma Poasa memorial gift”. Funds will be used to purchase a bench in remembrance and towards helping their garden flourish.
