Raymond W. L. Karnes, born on November 21, 1935, in Monterey, California, passed peacefully in his home on February 10, 2026, in Cottage Grove, Oregon.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Roberta, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarabelle and Raymond, his daughters, granddaughter, and his siblings.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years and worked tirelessly until his retirement to travel the United States with Roberta. Those who knew Ray will remember him for his infectious smile and generous heart. Although Ray's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire us. ‍

There will be a family gravesite burial on June 12 at the Roseburg National Cemetery.
