IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Clark
April 30, 1951 – December 7, 2025
Robert (Bob) G. Clark
April 30, 1951 – December 7, 2025
With a heavy and tangled heart, I share the passing of Robert G. Clark (Bob), who died peacefully at the age of 74 on December 7, 2025. A husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bob’s life was a testament to his passion for nature, community, and a simpler, sustainable way of living.
Born in New Jersey on April 30, 1951, he eventually attended a forestry school in Florida. Bob moved to Oregon, completed an Associate’s degree in forestry and pursued his career in the Forest Service where he dedicated much of his life to learning about and cherishing the natural beauty of the region. His deep love for the environment was evident not only in his work, but in his personal passions. Bob was an avid gardener and found great joy in tending and harvesting plants. In retirement he continued to nurture nature at Buford Park’s Native Plant Nursery, where he volunteered his time and expertise as well as some years spent helping with the effort to responsibly manage forest fires. He had a particular fondness for crafting with glass, turning simple materials into creative and new works of art.
In 1995 he met Kim and Janie. Bob and Kim soon became a team, and his world would change forever. He took on fatherhood to a preteen girl with the naivety of a hero. From there, fatherhood came to a complete circle when grandchildren were born. At that point he spent most of his time devoted to his grandchildren. He exhibited a steadfast patience in passing on his wisdom and life lessons that will stay with them forever. The light, joy and humor he brought into their lives will be intensely missed.
Beyond his love of nature, Bob was a passionate advocate for alternative transportation, frequently seen on his bicycle, advocating for a greener, healthier way of life. His commitment to sustainability and community left an indelible mark on those around him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by four brothers Bruce, Charlie, Joel, and Harry, his wife, Kim, his stepdaughter Janie, grandchildren Ian and Fae, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who will forever remember his willingness to help, his unique perspective, and unwavering commitment to the things that mattered most to him.
A celebration of Bob’s life may be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Buford Park Native Plant Nursery. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, particularly his daughter and grandchildren and he is deeply missed.
