Ronald Frank Taylor passed away on August 10, 2026. Ron was born in Colton, Washington, in 1936 to Mary Christine Edwards (Trapp) and James Edward Taylor, the younger of two brothers alongside Lyle Edward Taylor, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, graduating from Corvallis High School in 1954. He earned a basketball scholarship to Willamette University, and after graduation served two years in the Army's Fourth Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, Washington.

It was in college that Ron met Catherine Anne Lund (1938–2016), though they didn't begin dating until after graduation. They married on September 4, 1960, in her hometown of Walla Walla, and settled in Eugene, where they raised their two daughters, Anne Catherine Taylor (Skeie) and Megan Elizabeth Taylor (Capper). Ron was often referred to as ‘the best father-in-law’ by his sons-in-laws Richard Skeie and Clint Capper.

Ron built his career in banking, eventually becoming manager and part-owner of Willamette Graystone. He was proud to serve on the Pacific Continental Bank board for 34 years as a founding member. Later in life, Ron reconnected with longtime classmate Desda Deanne Daily (Brown) at a school reunion, forming a close bond that brought warmth to Ron and his entire family, the last 8 years of his life.

Ron will be remembered as a giving, funny, kind man with a story for every occasion-- especially about playing basketball, time in the Army, and travels with Cathy. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He never missed a chance to cheer on the Ducks, play bridge and cribbage, or talk stocks with family. He was a lifelong sports fan, closely following Sabrina Ionescu and never turned down a friendly wager among family or friends.

Ron had two sayings he'll always be remembered for: "Giving is a wonderful thing," and "I've had a good life", and everyone who knew him understood he meant both.

Ron is survived by his two daughters, five grandchildren: Caitlin Skeie (Osborn), Elinor Skeie (Ringbrant), and John, Annie, and Caroline Capper.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, at the Eugene Country Club.
