February 16, 1935 — July 23, 2025

Shirley (Heimburger) Bragg passed away peacefully at her care home on Wednesday July 23rd. Born in February 1935 in Prescott Oregon, she moved to Oakridge Oregon during World War II with her WWI veteran father Charles, mother Zella (Arp) Heimburger and brother Donald. She became active in Church while at Oakridge and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She moved to Eugene after graduating in 1953 from Oakridge High School to work in the University of Oregon's Registers Office with a plan of working her way through college. Instead, she met Maurice Bragg at church (he had a car, and it was raining), and they were married in 1954. She was a homemaker and volunteer at church and schools until Maurice was diagnosed with cancer in1976. Ever the practical person, she returned to the Registers Office at the U of O that year, while her husband went through surgery and rehabilitation. She worked there a number of years and completed her goal to graduate from the U of O with a bachelor's in 1984 in Library Science and earned a teach certificate. She worked as a Teacher and the Librarian at Taft Elementary/Middle School in Lincoln City. While working at Taft she completed her Master's degree at the U of O. She was a 25 year member of Beta Sigma Phi for 25 years holding anumber of officer positions over the years.
