Stanley “Stan” Sidney Stewart, age 95, passed away peacefully in his home in Eugene, Oregon, on December 1, 2025. Born on June 16, 1930, to Sidney Stanley Stewart and Lena Mae Johnson (Stewart), Stan spent a long and full life defined by hard work, humor, independence, and an undeniable cowboy spirit.

Stan had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and a gift for storytelling. After high school and his service in the Air Force, Stan went on to build a successful career in sales within the automobile industry. He had a natural instinct for buying and selling and had a reputation for nearly always coming out ahead. Whether it was a car, a Winchester, or a rare item traded at just the right moment, Stan had an eye for value and a love for the chase.

He was a true cowboy at heart. Rodeos, Winchesters, and cars were lifelong passions, and he carried with him the grit and resilience that came with a life spent loving those things. He lived life on his own terms and left it the same way, slipping away in his sleep during one of the only moments he was alone in his final days. In every sense, he rode out the full eight seconds and then some.

Stan married the love of his life, Catherine Cecilia Stewart, the only woman who could tell him what to do, and he adored her until his last day. Their partnership, marked by loyalty and spirited humor, was the anchor of his life. He was preceded in death not only by Cathy but also by his sons, Paul Stewart and David Stewart.

He is survived by his son John Stewart (and spouse Karen), as well as four grandchildren, Jamin Stewart, Nicole Stewart, Renae Stewart, and Sky Stewart, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his stories, his stubborn charm, and the unmistakable spark he carried into every room.

Stan built his life in Eugene, Oregon. To know him was to know someone both rugged and warm, spirited and full of tales, tough as they come yet willing to help a friend or family member.

He lived a long life, a full life, and a life uniquely his. His stories now live on in the many people who loved him and will continue to tell them for years to come.
