Susanne
Ammann
November 11, 1963 – April 7, 2026
Born in Santa Ana, California on November 11, 1963, but raised almost entirely in Eugene and Portland Oregon, Susanne Ammann lived a life full of love, color and sound. On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, she passed away at home with her partner, Brett Cannon, her Black Lab Abby, and her cat Kitters.
For many years, Susanne lived at the Cedar Apartments with her son Nathan Ammann, a mere three blocks from the Eugene Weekly office. Nobody was a stranger to Susanne. After one short conversation, one immediately felt comfortable with her. She was well-loved in Eugene, Portland, and wherever she traveled.
Susanne loved camping, campfires, and cooking. Her favorite camping spot was at the Thompson Reservoir in South Central Oregon. She also loved the band Social Distortion, and felt a particular affinity for the song, “Story of My Life.” Her favorite film was Mike Newell's The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
But above all, she loved her son Nathan.
Susanne went to Oregon Country Fair for approximately four years, working on the Security Crew. Her son Nathan now holds her place in OCF.
She is survived by her partner Brett Cannon of Eugene, Oregon, and her beloved son Nathan – her brothers Robert Shelton of Green Bay, WI, and Daniel aka Sunday Ammann of Portland Oregon. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Ammann, and her life-partner Patrick Cullen.
May we all have the strength and conviction that Susanne lived with and continue to live by her example. Susanne's Bible was found open on her coffee table to Psalm 23. 'Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.'
For those who knew her, that felt exactly right.
A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Nathan in this difficult time. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-nathan-after-susannes-passing
